Paige Allen, a student at Eagles Peak Charter School in Temecula, California, has the faith of a child – bold and unshaken. Last month this ten year old girl was threatened with expulsion from her public school for expressing and sharing her faith during the school day.

Paige’s teacher had asked students to write a short statement explaining the good and bad things that happened throughout the day and place them in a jar in the classroom. As a Christian, Paige often referenced her faith during that sharing time by writing Bible verses she memorized and putting them in the jar. As a result, the Principal informed Paige she must stop speaking about her faith to her classmates. It is disturbing to hear public school officials attempting to censor a ten-year old’s faith; especially when just about every immoral viewpoint is allowed in public schools, as well as, the teaching of Islam and other faiths running rampant in the school system. What an alarming contrast when one considers it was not long ago the Bible in a public school classroom was held in high regard. Because of her actions in the classroom and on the playground, Paige’s mother, Heather Allen, received an email from the principal that read, “Paige may not evangelize at school. Specifically, Paige may not read Bible verses aloud in class. The good and bad jar (which is the class share time) are for good things that happen during the day, and bad things that happen during the day. It is not for verses or phrases of any kind…Paige may write about her faith in her journal, where she and her teacher can see it.” 

Advocates for Faith and Freedom sent a letter to the school demanding that they cease from violating Paige’s First Amendment rights under the United States Constitution. In response to the school’s original letter, which erroneously cited the separation of church and state as justification for its actions, we responded with the following statement: “Freedom of religion is neither retained nor protected by those silencing those who hold sincere their religious beliefs. Before violating another students constitutional rights, please educate yourself regarding the true foundation of this country and how those who laid that foundation believed freedom to be attained. “ 

The day after receiving our letter, the school apologized to Paige and it appears the matter has been resolved. 

Political Correctness (a misnomer), the Enemy Within

These last two posts demonstrates the hypocrisy of the secular “progressives.” We spend billions to outfit our fighting men and women with the best that technology and dollars can provide, then we allow a Mosque to be planted in a military installation by our enemies. These are the same radicals who are killing our brave men and women and who would behead us if given the chance. The foolish that cherish political correctness over the protection of our people is the same group that screams their bloody heads off whenever a young Christian or Jew emerges in a classroom expressing his/her faith. Apparently it’s good to accommodate muslims by providing mosques in our military bases, but when a child throws a verse of scripture in a jar, that’s really serious stuff. That kid must be stopped at all cost. On the other hand, I’ll take a child tossing a scripture verse in a jar over a Jihadist swinging a sword wanting my head.

I can already hear the left screaming, “the first thing we must do is to rid ourselves of these right wing religious nut cases and occasional Jewish zealot. And the way to do that is to be very clear about the separation of Church and state.” Separation of Church and State is a good thing if we’re talking about Christians, but our founding Fathers never mentioned anything about the separation of Islam and the State. Perhaps that is why their Normandy landing has been so successful at Ft. Bragg. Of course you understand there is a bit of sarcasm in this paragraph, no wait, I prefer to call it tongue in cheek. 

A Christian child is corrected and abused for placing a verse of scripture in a classroom jar. If you don’t see “political correctness in all of this, then grab the nearest minaret and continue reading. In some of our middle schools children are bombarded with carefully designed educational text, assignments and exercises. It can be argued, these are not for the purpose of informing about another religion, but to proselytize. In several classrooms children are required to memorize and recite portions of the Koran, kneel on Muslim prayer rugs, and one teacher in Corona, CA included in the final test a crossword puzzle that when finished spelled out, “there is no other god but allah!” Now isn’t that a great line if you happen to be a Christian or Jew and believe that the Muslim god called allah is never to be confused with the Christian God Yahweh. Allah is the one who instructs his followers to kill the infidels if they refuse to convert. God, found in the Bible is someone very different. Isn’t it good to know that we now have a mosque at Ft. Bragg, a place where the muslim faithful can be instructed in their truth. This separation of church and state thing sounds pretty good if only it applied to muslims as well. However, once again we have been politically correct in allowing those who would kill us their place of indoctrination within the confines of Ft. Bragg. They call it a mosque. Absolutely unbelieable!

It is far more important to be Morally Right than Politically Correct.

I am among the fortunate. My early education came before Dewey’s Progressive Education became the the mantra that set education on a new course. That means that my formative years preceded the Warren Court.

In the first 170 years of our history, the Bible was used as a primer, the primary text, not only so students could learn to read but also could learn how to live morally and ethically.

When I was a child in grade school every morning began as we gathered around the flag pole, with hands over our hearts we recited the Pledge of Allegiance which was followed by singing God Bless America. Unfortunately most of our children today can’t sing that song and probably most don’t even know it.

“God Bless America, land that I love. Stand beside her, and guide her thru the night with a light from above, from the mountains, to the prairies to the oceans, white with foam,God bless America, my home sweet home”

I count four specific request for God’s blessing in that song. As a child I was fortunate to have a family and place of worship that nurtured me with morality, but my schools played an important part as well. Have we drifted so far from our roots that we no longer understand right from wrong? We have banished God from the fabric of our nation, the God that once made us the greatest nation this earth has known. He is no longer to be found in the classroom. His Book is relegated to some dusty corner of the library, and prayer in our schools would never be consider until it’s time to take a test. Is it any wonder why many feel it hypocritical to sing, “God Bless America!” In many of our schools we have removed any attempt at teaching morality suggesting that is not the place of public education. Apparently it is much less difficult to deal with the Columbines, airport type screeners, children having babies, guns and drugs on our campuses.  How can we with clear conscience invoke the blessing of God when we live our lives as though he doesn’t exist? Who needs God? Don’t let Him back in the classroom! Remove His commandments from our courts! Remove Him from our currency and lives!  He needs to understand that we “are the captains of our fate.” Yes, we have done very well for ourselves. By following the godless politically incorrect, we have 

• an ethnic group that no longer graduates 50% of their youth, 
• 40% of mothers giving birth without the benefit of a father and husband,
• the highest prison population in the world (percentage),
• inter city ghettos that are virtual war zones,
• a drug tsunami that is eating the heart out of our youth and country, and 
• an illegal immigration problem that will eventually bankrupt California.

Here is another example of political correctness gone crazy. A very bright Michael Mewdow decided he was going to challenge the phrase “one nation under God,” in The Pledge. A lower court agreed with him. By the time it reached our Supreme Court, how many millions were spent by tax payers for this case without real merit? Mewdow is an atheist father, estranged from the mother of his daughter. At the time he was challenging the Pledge all the way to U.S. Supreme Court, he was fighting for the custody of his third-grade daughter. To make his case, he was trying to use his little daughter for which he didn’t have custody. As an atheist he was upset with “one nation under God,” a part of our pledge. Fortunately the Supreme Court ruled 8-0 against Mewdow. Mewdow never married his daughter’s mother. One might think that a person who is so intent on trying to make a legal point would first consider making the right moral choice, e.g., becoming a husband to the mother of his daughter and a father to his child. One is tempted to conclude that a person who is unwilling to assume responsibilities of his/her society, that person ought not to have a voice, but that would never fly with the crowd that denies the existence of God, anymore than suggesting that someone should not be given food if he is unwilling to work (providing he is able). Their first legal question (not moral) would be, “what are the responsibilities of one’s society?” For me, I’ll take The Pledge and all that it implies, that God does exist and has a right to tell me what to do and how to live. Now that’s a pregnant thought that hopefully would be birthed.

THE PLEDGE

I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America,

and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God,

indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

If America had the will to once again become “one nation under God,” we would begin to make significant progress against the problems mentioned above. For that to happen, we might call it a miracle, something like Moses crossing the Red Sea. Unfortunately many in America see themselves as superior and intellectually above the rest. Their commitment is to be against a God they “believe” does not exist. Is it any wonder these individuals see no need to heed the words of God? It will be impossible for them to understand the second verse.

“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14

Yes, it is better to be morally right than politically correct!
