Israel and the Middle East

Israel and the U.S. are discussing “red lines” in Iran’s nuclear program that, if crossed, would justify a preemptive strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities. Israel and the U.S. disagree on how far along Iran is with its nuclear program.

The U.S. is quietly engaged in talks with Egypt’s ruling military council geared at ensuring that the country’s democratically elected regime will maintain its peace treaty with Israel.

Pray about the Arab Spring demonstrations and successes and their continuing impacts into 2012.

Declaration of Independence Signer

Charles Carroll (1737-1832), Maryland

Charles Carroll was born in September 1737 in Annapolis, Maryland. His rather remarkable formal education began at the age of 8 when he was packed off to France to attend a Jesuit College at St. Omer. He graduated from the College of Louis the Grande at age 17 and continued practical studies in Europe until, at the age of 28, he returned to his home, into the radical climate produced by the Stamp Act.

Carroll is said to have identified with the radical cause at once, and he proceeded to work in the circles of American patriots. He anonymously engaged the secretary of the colony of Maryland in a series of newspaper articles protesting the right of the British government to tax the colonies without representation.

Carroll was an early advocate for armed resistance with the object of separation from Great Britain. However, his native colony was less certain in this matter and did not even send a representative to the First Continental Congress. Carroll served on the first Committee of Safety at Annapolis, and also in the Provincial Congress. He visited the Continental Congress in 1776 and was enlisted in a diplomatic mission to Canada, along with Franklin and Chase. Shortly after his return, the Maryland Convention decided to join in support for the Revolution. Carroll was elected to represent Maryland on the 4th of July and, though he was too late to vote for the Declaration, he did sign it.

He served in the Continental Congress, on the Board of War, through much of the War of Independence, and simultaneously participated in the framing of a constitution for Maryland. He was elected to the Maryland Senate, and to the Federal Congress.

He was married to Mary Darnall, known as Molly. They had seven children, but only three survived infancy. The Carrolls of Carrollton were devoutly Roman Catholic. Charles Carroll was the last surviving member of those who signed the Declaration. He died in 1832 at the age of 95.

Is it possible to tax the Rich a little more and solve our Financial Fiasco?

This graphic video demonstrates just how far politicians are out of touch with reality. If you desire to be correctly informed at how deep our financial grand canyon is then this will be the best six minutes you will spend on the end of this year.

If this video doesn’t say it all, I don’t know what could ever convince the public. For those that may even think about buying the notion that we can just take a little more from the “rich” to solve our economic problems, watch this. The next time you hear someone foolishly repeating this mantra, that raising taxes on the “rich” will solve our problems, consider showing them the following video.

Congress and President are spending 10 BILLION per day, and the President wants to add another 3.5 Trillion to that figure. Forget the 3.5 Trillion. In this video you will discover that meeting the obligation of 10 BILLION per day can not be met if we take all the money from the rich, all the money from every other single person in America, all the mnoney from every business in America, all the money from every money creating source in America. You get the picture, taxing the “rich” is nothing more than a smoke screen.

Sam Brownback’s Tea Party Kansas

December 23, 2011 by

Governor Sam Brownback of Kansas is on the way to making his State a showcase for the virtues of limited government. After reading the previous post, it is clear that America needs more governors and people drinking tea.

The Governor has said his main concerns are creating jobs, cutting taxes and bringing new businesses; and he is working toward those goals in true Tea Party fashion.

Over the past year, the State has cut three agencies and 2,050 government jobs. Brownback also rejected a $31.5 million Federal grant for a new health-insurance exchange because he opposes President Barack Obama’s healthcare law, according to The Washington Post.

The Governor has also established a new “Office of the Repealer” who canvasses the State searching for places to reduce the number of laws and regulations. Some people in the State believe that Brownback’s sweeping Tea Party reforms as Governor may be used as fodder for a future Presidential bid.

A Report from Capital Hill – Hard to Believe

Round 4: Joint House/Senate Homeland Security Committee Hearing on Radical Islam’s Terror Threat to U.S. Military Communities

Must-see video of brief exchange between Rep. Dan Lungren and Obama official!!

by Lisa Piraneo, Director of Government Relations

Last Wednesday, Lisa Piraneo Tweeted live during the 4th of Chairman Pete King’s hearings on radical Islam in our nation, entitled “Homegrown Terrorism: The Threat to Military Communities Inside the United States.” The following is her report of that hearing. Last week’s hearing, was slightly different from the previous three, in that it was a JOINT hearing convened by both the House Homeland Security Committee and the Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee.

Last week’s hearing covered a great deal of ground, which you can find out by downloading my more detailed report HERE. For the remainder of this e-mail, however, I want to focus on one particular exchange that you just HAVE to see to believe.

At one point during the discussion, Congressman Dan Lungren (R-CA/3rd) asked witness Paul Stockton (Assistant Secretary of Defense for Homeland Defense and America’s Security Affairs, Office of Undersecretary of Defense for Policy, Department of Defense) if we are at war with violent Islamist extremism.

A simple question, requiring a simple answer…right?

To accompany the hearing, Chairman King released a Congressional Majority Investigative Report, also entitled, “Homegrown Terrorism: The Threat to Military Communities inside the United States.” The report offers numerous details on the dangers faced by our military and their families on U.S. soil, noting,

“The Department of Defense considers the U.S. Homeland the most dangerous place for a G.I. outside of foreign warzones – and the top threat they face here is from violent Islamist extremists. While our troops at overseas bases train their weapons outward to prevent armed enemies from getting “inside the wire,” one way militant Islamists are penetrating our defenses is through enlistment in the U.S. Armed Forces. A significant and growing number of military personnel, such as alleged Fort Hood mass murderer Army Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, pose a serious danger to their brothers and sisters in arms who wear the same uniform.”

Click HERE to watch this exchange in its entirety.  Mr. Stockton’s responses would be downright comedic if they didn’t tragically demonstrate the shocking denial of jihadism at our hightest levels of our government.

Netanyahu’s Video Message to “All Christian Citizens of Israel”

Netanyahu’s Video Message to Christian Citizens of Israel

This is worth watching — and sharing with others Christians, here at home and around the world. It’s not often that you hear an Israeli Prime Minister mention the name of Jesus. Yet Netanyahu has recorded a warm Christmas greeting for “all the Christian citizens of Israel,” as well as to Christians around the world. He also invites all Christians to come visit Israel and see the places where the Bible came to live. Amen. No Israeli Prime Minister better understands the deep friendship evangelical Christians have with Israel, or that Israel has no better or more faithful and enduring friends than those who have a deep faith in Jesus Christ. So let’s continue to be praying for the Prime Minister and for all the people of Israel this Chanukah and Christmas season. And let the name of Jesus — Yeshua in Hebrew — be lifted up among all this Christmas season, just as it was amongst the Israeli shepherds in the field outside of Bethlehem so long ago. “In the same region there were some shepherds staying out in the fields and keeping watch over their flock by night. And an angel of the Lord suddenly stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them; and they were terribly frightened. ‘Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring  you good news of great joy which will be for all the people; for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Messiah the Lord. This will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.’ And suddenly there appeared with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, ‘Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among men with whom He is pleased.” (Luke 2:8-14)

Members of Congress Intrigued with “The Tehran Initiative”

Gave copy to Netanyahu; invited Joel Rosenberg to give briefing on Capitol Hill yesterday

(Washington, D.C., December 16, 2011) — There have been some developments in recent weeks regarding “The Tehran Initiative” I thought you might find interesting. Just before Thanksgiving, two Congressmen read the novel, loved it, and called me to discuss it and to say they felt every Member of Congress should read it. One was about to head to Israel as part of a delegation of other Members of Congress to meet with Prime Minister Netanyahu and other senior Israeli officials to discuss the Iran nuclear threat and the U.S.-Israeli alliance, among other issues. He wanted to give a copy of the novel to each of the members of the delegation, and asked if I would sign them. I happily agreed, and went down to his office to do so. Then I asked if he’d like to take a signed copy to give to Netanyahu, as well. He thought that was a great idea, so I signed one for the PM, and he did in fact deliver it in person.

A few days ago, I got a funny email from the Congressman. Here’s an excerpt (which he agreed to let me share with you): “Don’t think I told you exactly HOW I gave your book to Netanyahu. After we sat down [in the PM’s conference room], right off, Netanyahu said, ‘What book do you have there?’ I said it was the newest book from Joel Rosenberg who asked that I bring him a copy. He said, ‘Let’s see it.’ I pushed the book across the table, not realizing how incredibly slick his conference table was. It went so fast across the table that it knocked his nameplate backwards and bumped his cup of coffee. We all thought was about to go in his lap. Everyone laughed but me because of how close I came to knocking everything in his lap.” He also sent me a picture taken by the PM’s official photographer. It was snapped at the very moment when the Congressman’s face registered horror, and while everyone else in the room was beginning to laugh. I’m not at liberty to post the photo, but it’s priceless.

Then, the two Congressman — both Republicans — ordered 242 copies of “The Tehran Initiative” and sent them to each of the Republican Members of the House, with a note encouraging them all to read it. Yesterday they had me come up to Capitol Hill to discuss the Iran threat. I agreed and met with about 30 Members and some legislative staffers. We specifically focused on the central premise of the novel: “What if an American President, well meaning though he may be, miscalculates with regards to Iran. What if he waits too long to take decisive action to neutralize the Iranian nuclear threat and to do everything possible to help the Iranian people overthrow and replace the evil regime in Tehran? What if Iran gets not just a single nuclear warhead, but a small arsenal – six, eight, ten warheads? What would Iran do at that moment? What would Israel do? What would the U.S. do?”

Some Congressmen asked for more details on Shia Islamic eschatology, and why I believe it is driving Iranian foreign policy. Some asked for me to compare and contrast Shia End Times theology with Bible prophesy. I shared with them about my recent visit to Auschwitz and we discussed the similarities between the current moment and the late 1930s. The meeting was off-the-record, so I can’t tell you who attended or discuss more details about what was said other than the broad strokes. But it was a fascinating discussion and I was encouraged by how seriously some leaders in Washington are taking the Iran issue. I encouraged them to keep educating fellow Members of the House about the Iran threat, and to keep pushing the White House (and the GOP presidential candidates) to develop more detailed plans to stop Iran and to stand with Israel. I reminded them that with all the other economic, fiscal and social crises we face, the last thing we dare do is turn our backs on Israel in defiance of Genesis 12:1-3.

The Isaiah 9:10 Prophecy: Is U.S. Under God’s Judgment?

Messianic rabbi reveals striking parallels between fall of ancient Israel, America

WASHINGTON – A messianic rabbi from New Jersey is stunning audiences nationwide by revealing the striking parallels between the fall of ancient Israel and what he suggests are God’s early judgments of America.

Jonathan Cahn of the Jerusalem Center-Beth Israel Congregation in Wayne, N.J., says an otherwise obscure passage in the Book of Isaiah is since Sept. 11, 2001, being uncannily re-enacted in the U.S. just the way it originally played out in the time of the great prophet of Israel leading to the nation’s captivity and dispersions.

In a new book,“The Harbinger,”Cahn reveals what he calls “an ancient mystery that holds the secret of America’s future and the collapse of the global economy.”

Read “The Harbinger: The Ancient Mystery That Holds the Secret of America’s Future” for yourself!

“Before its destruction as a nation, ancient Israel received nine harbingers, prophetic omens of warning,” he says. “The same nine harbingers are now manifesting in America with immediate ramifications for end-time prophecy.”

The key to decoding the harbingers, he says, is found in understanding the seemingly innocuous words of Isaiah 9:10 (King James Version), what it meant to Israel and how the history seems to be repeating itself in America today.

“The bricks are fallen down, but we will build with hewn stones: the sycomores are cut down, but we will change them into cedars.”

These words were first uttered by leaders in Israel and in response to a limited strike by Assyria on the lands of Zebulun and Naphtali – an attack the prophet makes clear is actually part of a limited judgment by God against apostasy. It wasn’t meant to destroy the nation, but to awaken it, according to most commentaries.

But, says Cahn, Israel didn’t take the cue. Instead, the response from the people in Isaiah 9:10 is one of defiance. The brick buildings were toppled, but they vowed to build bigger and better. The little sycamore trees may have been uprooted, but they vowed to plant bigger and better cedars in their place.

God, speaking through Isaiah, explains what will happen as a result of their pride and arrogance and failure to heed the harbinger: Bigger and more potent attacks will follow. Because neither the northern kingdom of Israel nor the southern kingdom of Judah truly repents, the first is eventually swept away by Assyrian invaders and the latter is carried off into captivity by the Babylonians for 70 years.

But what does this have to do with the United States of America – particularly what the U.S. experienced on 9/11 and since? Cahn has found some eerie parallels.

“In the aftermath of the attack, the nation was stunned,” said Cahn, “Everyone was trying to make sense of what had happened – this unprecedented attack on America. The very next day, September 12, then Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle presented America’s response to the world. And what did he say?”

Daschle said: “America will emerge from this tragedy as we have emerged from all adversity – united and strong. Nothing … nothing can replace the losses of those who have suffered. I know there is only the smallest measure of inspiration that can be taken from this devastation. But there is a passage in the Bible from Isaiah that speaks to all of us at times like this.”

He then went on to read Isaiah 9:10:
“Daschle has no idea what he is doing here,” explains Cahn. “He thinks he’s offering comforting words to a grief-stricken people, but he is actually embracing the spiritually defiant and arrogant words of the children of Israel, proclaiming the ancient and ominous vow of the leaders of that nation. He doesn’t realize it, but he is actually inviting more judgment on the nation.”

It might be of some significance that Daschle, one of the most powerful men in the nation when he spoke those words, later fell into disgrace – to the point where he couldn’t even serve in Barack Obama’s Cabinet.

That might have been the end of the story – if no other top leader in the nation uttered those strange and obscure words after 9/11. But that’s not the case.

On the third anniversary of the attack, Sept. 11, 2004, another powerful U.S. senator running for vice president that year and who would famously run for the presidency four years later, gave a speech to the Congressional Black Caucus.

This time, John Edwards’ entire speech was built on a foundation of Isaiah 9:10: “Today, on this day of remembrance and mourning, we have the Lord’s Word to get us through,” he said. He then read Isaiah 9:10. He went on to talk about how America was doing just that – rebuilding with hewn stone and planting cedars:

“Like Daschle, Edwards thinks he’s invoking inspirational and comforting words from the Bible, but he’s actually inviting judgment on America,” says Cahn. “He’s repeating the vow that provoked God to bring calamity on ancient Israel.”

Daschle and Edwards were hardly alone among U.S. leaders in making similar statements, as Cahn’s“The Harbinger”reveals.

But aside from such statements, which could be chalked up to political talk and coincidences, is there anything else linking Isaiah 9:10 to 9/11?

The book is full of shocking parallels. There was actually a very famous sycamore tree felled in the attack on the World Trade Center. It was replaced by trees in the same genus as the cedar. There have been many plans made to rebuild the twin towers bigger and better and a large “hewn stone” was actually quarried out of the Adirondack Mountains in New York and brought to Ground Zero as a cornerstone.

“The parallels are truly stunning,” says Joseph Farah, founder of WND, who is producing a video documentary about Cahn’s findings. “They are too numerous and too powerful to relate in news story form. In fact, they are overwhelming in their number and their exactitude. I am persuaded God is trying to tell America something and Rabbi Cahn has found the key to unlocking the message.”

Farah says events continue to unfold that seem to link directly to the message of Isaiah 9:10 right here in the United States.
